    good generational story

8. All the light we Cannot see ~ Anthony Doerr (9/10)
9. Go set a Watchman ~ Harper Lee, 6/10
10.  Under the Hawthorne Tree ~ Ai Mi 4/10, poorly written ( could be a result of translation)

5. The Diet Fix ~ Dr. Yoni Freedhoff 9/10

1. Late Nights on Air ~ Elizabeth Hay 8/10 ( brought back memories of the north)
2. American Pastoral ~ Philip Roth 3/10, don't bother
3. Nine Parts of Desire: The hidden world of Islamic women
       ~ Geraldine Brooks, nonfiction 9/10 (fascinating)
4. The Piano Maker ~ Kurt Palka 8/10, well written
5. A Recipe for Bees ~ Gail Anderson 6/10, depressing
6. The Reason you Walk ~ Wab Kinew 9/10, honest, insightful
7. The Sentimentalists ~ Johanna Skibsrud 5/10,  I kept trying to get interested in the characters
      or the strory line, just wasn't for me.  I think if the 'trial transcript' had started the book it might
      have altered the way I read it.
8. West With the Night ~ Beryl Markham, 8/10 it is such a joy to read a well crafted book. Made me      want to know more about this remarkable woman.
9. The Virgin's Lover ~ Philippa Gregory, 6/10 a fun light read
10. The Children Act ~ Ian McEwan, 7/10 capitivating characters, but ultimately unsatisfying read
I was expecting more
11. Irma Roth ~ Miriam Toews, 6/10 stick with it, it improves
12. The Book Borrower ~ Alice Mattison, 6/10 a really strange story
13. The Gathering ~ Anne Enright, 7/10 a difficult book but rings true
14. The Wonder ~ Emma Donoghu, 8/10 hard to put down
15. Sweetness in the Belly ~ Camilla Gibb, 7/10 a good read
16. The Reluctant Fundamentalist ~ Mohsin Hamid, 7/10 captivating
17. The Dry Grass of August ~ Anna Jean Mayhew, 9/10 coming of age story reminiscent of to Kill a Mockingbird in some aspects.
18. Mercy ~ Jodi Picoult, 7/10 a novel about affairs and euthanasia
19. The Boston Girl ~ Anita Diamant, 6/10 one of my gavorite authors so I expecetd to like this a lot more
20. River of the Brokenhearted ~ David Adams Richards, 5/10 couldn't wait to finish, miserable characters the whole lot.
